Shot Awareness

Everything matters in golden tee and if you don't factor in the wind and distance to the pin more often than not you find yourself landing short and spinning the ball into the fringe because you chose backspin when you should have used bite or even hit the ball naked. In my first example below I face an approach shot where my margin of error is zero because chances are the ball lands in the fringe and either backspin or bite keeps it there especially when using a super spin club. I chose to hit it hard enough without bite or spin to make sure the ball at least made it to the hole.

In my second example I'm looking at a par 3 hitting my shot into a 15mph headwind. Choosing backspin means there's a chance the ball rolls off the green thanks to the 15mph wind speed. You should always factor in what the ball does with the wind after it lands on the green. In this scenario I chose bite and also made sure the ball got further past the pin for my bite to act as backspin after it landed and got pushed backwards by the 15mph wind. End result: Hole in one...think out your scenarios before your shot or else the game engine is destined to punish you the worst way possible..

Make it rain with your lofted clubs

All too often I see players content to play Golden Tee with stock clubs and balls. Little do they know that they are losing about 4-5 shots a round sticking with the default. In this example on Coral Vista Hole 12 the loft of a high teed 8 wood enables me to clear the tall trees and hit the green for an eagle look. A 4 iron never gives you such an opportunity. Until you learn to go underneath and and over obstacles you're giving up shots to the game ai without a fight. Practice your high teed 5,6,7,8 and 9 woods and see what you're able to get over...make it rain from the skies with the flare clubset

C or A putting will save you a costly lip out or rollover

Ever faced a downhill putt of 5 or more for an easy birdie only to have the ball skip over the hole? For any extreme downhill putt your best bet is to pull back to either A or C on your back swing and hit forward..this stabilizes the putt and prevents the unthinkable..

Zed Math..How to determine your cut angle in Golden Tee

We got our resident real life Golden Tee demigod Zedmag to drop some dimes on how to determine your cut angle on the A,B,C section of the trackball area and this is what he said

  • quick little math
  • point directly at the pin
  • Choose a club that that reaches just past the pin.
  • Turn one left or right.
  • Take the distance of the club and find the middle point. Draw a line from the middle point to the pin. THIS is your pullback angle. The ball turns at the apex(hight) of the club. the softer you hit.. the sooner the apex is reached thus turning.
  • The forward swing is the direction the ball will leave the tee.

When he's not attacking builds on discord he's a wonderful brain to discuss Golden Tee with and a pure shot maker on the Golden Tee circuit ...Give his youtube a follow to witness a Golden Tee brain at work

Think Eagle or better..Coral Vista - Hole 15(Par 4)

On Coral vista 15 look for a shot between the trees with a lofted 6 or 5 wood with a high tee if needed to take a straight shot at the pin. I advise folks to get the Flare club set so that they can get lofted woods(5,6,7 and 9) to get over a lot of high obstacles. The game by default wants you to go to the right fairway for a birdie approach to the green but once again this is golden tee and we only think eagle or better on most shots. As seen in the image I also cut the ball left of B and hit it straight to 2 to fight the wind to get the ball into the cup for a memorable hole in one..All the great golden tee players die on the inside when they birdie a hole instead of producing the spectacular..I cannot stress enough to think and look out for eagle or better on every hole..17/18 under rounds are mediocre in the Golden Tee world

Eagle Crest - Hole 4(Par 5)

Eagle Crest #4 is a long par 5 to the unseen Golden Tee eye. If you play the hole the traditional way you're looking at a birdie at best. A Golden Tee par is anywhere between a -27 and -30 and birdieing 18 holes gets you nowhere near that score so you need to have an eye for shortcuts, hole outs and eagles. On this hole I look for a path underneath the trees and low tee a driver to get closer to the pin for a manageable eagle approach shot to the green. Little details matter. Just don't accept what the game AI gives you and think different.

A1 and C3 shots to wrap shots around dog legs Eagle Crest - Hole 10(Par 4)

Eagle Crest Hole 10 is a long dog leg right par 4 that looks pretty intimidating to a golden tee rookie. To get the needed distance for a manageagble birdie look you need to click left once and hit an A1(Pull back to A and push trackball to 1) shot with a high tee and roll to cut through the dog leg like butter to get a birdie look at this hole. Anything short and you're looking at a par at best. if this was a dog leg left look on a hole I could use the same strategy but hit a C3 with a click right..
